Raincoat

Entering 2022, a new article will take you to a new chapter in the wardrobe.

Rainy days can be said to be the author’s favorite weather, hazy but calm, but if it rains for 300 days a year, just thinking is enough to make people collapse.

Growing up in a city called rain city because it rains 5 / 6 of the year means living in the rain. Maybe you will hate it or like it, but one thing is certain anyway: it will rain tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. In this context, a brand named Norwegian rain was born.

14 years ago, Alexander Helle, who studied business, left Milan and returned to his hometown Bergen to find t-michael, a designer with the same brand and has been a Menswear designer for 17 years. In order to overcome such conditions, the two people who also live in Bergen and are surrounded by rain every day decided to jointly create a brand and sell only one type of clothes, namely raincoats.

“Raincoat” is the main axis of the brand, but it is not just a raincoat, but rises to a certain philosophy and spirit to make everyone rethink the relationship with nature and rain. Designer t-michael once said, “we decided at the beginning that the raincoat should not just look like a raincoat. In addition to being waterproof, it should have a certain attitude behind it, and it has a certain style that can let people integrate into their own style.”

In the past 10 years of brand development, there have been numerous awards. We must not mention their city. Through this natural laboratory and observing everyone living here, we can better understand what functionality a competent “raincoat” should have and how to make the details more perfect and more considerate.

Based on the Japanese simple style loved by t-michael for a long time, Norwegian rain uses fabrics provided by Japanese fabric suppliers and made of recycled high-performance fabrics, and adds carefully made and natural details to create clothes that integrate extreme rain protection with traditional men’s clothing cutting.

For Alexander Helle and t-michael, the functional part is the most basic thing. Through the continuous distortion, testing and adjustment of traditional men’s tailoring, the “raincoat” designed for modern life and fully considering ecological problems is the core of Norwegian rain.
